ISM saddles are proven to have 100% blood flow for the rider due to their unique, patented design. Saddles based on traditional designs cause numbness and loss of blood flow to the genitals. We'll show you why this is the case, and how the setup of your ISM saddle must be different than a traditional saddle.

When the rider sits on a traditional saddle, the curved shape and narrow nose cause compression of the pudendal nerves and arteries shown here. Professional riders and coaches know that rotating your hips forward can increase power production, but this only worsens the nerve compression and loss of blood flow as the athlete rotates further onto their soft tissue.

In contrast, ISM saddles eliminate numbness and allow for 100% blood flow. The front arms of our saddles have a patented design and deep center channel, which supports the rider's pubic Rami bones, rather than putting weight on soft tissue areas.

There is no nerve impingement, even as the rider rotates their hips forward. Because of the unique design of ISM saddles, they must be set up differently than traditional seats. We'll outline these simple steps for you.

With traditional-style saddles, the rider tends to sit towards the rear with the saddle nose in between the rider's legs. ISM has eliminated the front two to three inches, or five to eight centimeters, of saddle nose, so the front of the saddle must be set up this much further to the rear.

If the saddle is not installed far enough back, it will feel too wide at the front. If you look at a front view, you'll also notice that ISM saddles sit slightly lower within the pelvis, compared to traditional saddles. Your ISM seat needs to be about five millimeters lower, in order to maintain the same body height.

As you can see, although the ISM saddle is further to the rear, and slightly lower than the traditional seat, the rider's position has not changed. ISM saddles simply move the seat to a more optimal location under the rider's body.
