We are offering an extended programme of refresher medical workshops intended for a wide range of medical personnel. All workshops are located at the Free University of Bolzano/Bozen. Pre-registration for the workshops is mandatory and is possible via email until 23 May or at the info-desk by Wednesday, 28 May 2014 at noon.

Note: These workshops are offered parallel to the congress programme and overlap with afternoon sessions and excursions on Thursday, 29 May 2014. Please consider this when registering. Attendance at more than one workshop is possible if times do not conflict.

Mechanical chest compression devices in mountain emergency medicine

With the current buzz around mechanical chest compression devices, this workshop provides a discussion of existing evidence for use of these devices in terrestrial and air rescue and ample hands-on time for participants to familiarize themselves with different commercially-available devices. This workshop will be repeated (group 1: 14.00-15.30 / group 2: 16.00-17.30) and participants should only sign up for one time slot.

Ultrasound at high altitude Ioptic nerve

Participants will receive hands-on instruction in optic nerve ultrasonography using a portable ultrasound and discuss its application in clinical studies at high altitude. The participants will be introduced to the basics of transcranial color-coded sonography and its value to detect, localize and quantify desease and evaluate hernodynamic responses.
